Aftercare Instructions
Congratulations on your new tattoo!
The average healing time for a tattoo is 2-3 weeks, though this will vastly depend on the size, style and area of your tattoo. Please keep in mind larger and bolder tattoos can take more time to heal.
✢ Please follow these directions carefully during the healing process ✢
Your artist will wrap your tattoo with dressing and tell you how long to wait before removing it. The time, again, depends on variables of tattoo style. Wash your hands thoroughly before removing the dressing and use warm water and a gentle soap to cleanse the area.
If Second Skin has been applied to your tattoo, you can keep the dressing on for 2-3 days, but no longer than a week. If ink and plasma starts leaking through the edge of the dressing, remove immediately. To remove, run the area under warm water and stretch the dressing from each side, allowing the adhesive to slowly stretch until it lifts from the skin. After dressing removal, cleanse the area with warm water and a gentle soap.
After cleansing, it's best to let it air dry or to dab it gently with a clean towel, then apply the aftercare product your Artist has recommended. Be sure to apply a very thin layer and not to drench the area. Repeat the cleansing and application of aftercare twice a day until your tattoo is completely healed.
Please avoid scratching, scrubbing and picking at your tattoo. You will notice scabs may form, or some ink being washed away as you cleanse it; this is just excess ink that has come up through your skin.
Do not submerge the tattooed area in the bath or spa while your tattoo is still healing. Showering is fine, but please avoid excessively long ones.
Please try your best to keep your tattoo out of the sun while it's healing. Once healed, prevent sun damage by wearing sun-protective clothing and apply sunscreen over your tattoo to keep it vibrant.
